Great Bear has been roasting small batch, artisanal coffee onsite in our Los Gatos café since 1991. Founded by the Van Epps family and purchased by longtime community member Abdy Mirzadegan and his wife De Anna in November 2022, Great Bear is focused on its coffee’s freshness and quality. The very first roaster at the Great Bear was trained by Alfred Peet — yes, that Mr. Peet — and over the years we’ve developed our own unrivaled roasts.

Our beans grind up to produce a beautifully full, luscious cup of coffee. We start with some of the best green beans and offer a limited selection of roasts, blends, and varietals to ensure the freshness that makes our coffees stand out. We also offer pastries, cakes, pies, and savory items from top local bakeries — all of which pair excellently with Great Bear coffee for breakfast, lunch, or a quick bite.

The Bear offers a relaxing atmosphere to work, study, meet, and chat with friends. It serves as a meeting place for community members, students, businesses, and artists.
